Design: The Footprnts Flexible Ergonomic Flatware set is made from medical grade PPSU thermoplastic, with FDA food grade thick silicone handle. The flatware set is designed for Baby Led Weaning (BLW) as babies take initiative to self feed. A team of occupational therapists performed a small sample size experiment of task analysis on babies self-feeding with utensils, and designed the spoon and fork according to their findings. It is noted that babies lack distal upper extremity coordination and tend to move head towards utensil or retracting shoulder to bring utensil closer to mouth during self feeding. The flexibility of the Footprnts spoon and fork promotes babies to improve on their efficiency to self feed. The silicone handle is short and thick for better grip and coordination. The design also includes an attenae baffle to reduce the risk of choking and retching.
